Dear
Plot Owner:
In the Spring of 2004, your Trustees were faced with
the problem of finding a suitable person to take over
the operation of the Cemetery.
We
were fortunate in securing the services of Pasquini
Contractors, and Mount Golda Association, to provide
the maintenance services for Huntington Rural Cemetery.
We
are aware of the fact that to enter into this contract
for services, it would require a considerable outlay
of money. We felt, however, that in order to attract
future plot owners and to increase the interest of the
public in our cemetery this expenditure was necessary.
If you have visited the cemetery lately, we are sure
that you have noticed a vast improvement in its appearance.
The
cemetery is located in one of the most prestigious
areas
in Huntington. However, the cost of maintaining the
cemetery is considerably higher than other cemeteries
for
the
main reason that it is located on a hillside.
This
is your cemetery and the manner in which it is cared
for is dependent upon the extent of your interest and
financial support. We therefore urge that you give this
matter your sincere and careful consideration.
There
are a large number of plots, particularly in the
old
section of the Cemetery for which no income is received
for their care. We hope that this letter will reach
some of the proprietors of these plots who will in
turn assume their responsibility in providing the
funds necessary
for the care of these plots.
The
period of low interest rates and lower return on investments
has brought about a serious condition which requires
your help. For this reason, we are enclosing a self
addressed envelope which you may sign and return with
your generous tax deductible gift will help us to maintain
our historical cemetery.
Thank
you,
Huntington
